The BMW configuration is the standard-mount variant of the series, providing the core power and serial interface without waterproof sealing, USB expansion, or Ethernet. It is the cost-efficient choice for controlled-environment installations where the cable assembly is not exposed to washdown or weather.

When a Fixed Metal Mount Is the Right Choice
A fixed mount is appropriate when the tablet is not intended to leave the vehicle — the driver uses it in place, and the hardware is treated as part of the vehicle equipment rather than a portable device. This removes the dock/undock mechanism from the reliability path and simplifies both installation and cable management. The metal housing provides the structural retention that vibration environments require.

When to Choose BKT1065-BMW
Select BKT1065-BMW when your MDT1065 deployment requires a permanent metal mount in a controlled cabin or equipment environment — vehicle dashboards, industrial control panels, and fixed HMI stations where the cable interface is not exposed to washdown or weather. It provides the same structural retention and RS232 serial capability as the rest of the BKT1065 series, at the entry cost point of the line. If the installation is exposed to water spray or requires a sealed connector, the BKT1065-IP offers the same physical mount with an IP-rated cable assembly. If the deployment needs USB peripheral expansion plus camera input, the BKT1065-OTG adds a USB-A OTG port and one AHD camera input to the same architecture. If your deployment needs a lockable M12 Ethernet link, the BKT1065-LAN-01 provides that interface set.

The BKT1065-BMW is built specifically for the MDT1065 mechanical and electrical interface, providing VCC/IGN DC12–36V input and one RS232 channel through the CAB-BMW-BASIC cable. It is not compatible with the MDT880, MDT865, or MDT1080.
