Provides stable power for MDT668/MDT665 handheld devices in vehicle installations.
CRD665-REG Cradle with Direct-Wire Power Cable (9-36V DC Input)
Fixed vehicle cradle for the MDT680 and MDT665 rugged handheld terminals, supplied with a direct-wire power cable for 9-36V DC input. Provides stable vehicle power and one RS232 serial channel through a hardwired cable assembly — designed for permanent dashboard and equipment-panel installation where a conventional power adapter is not suitable.
Part of the CRD665 cradle series, engineered for the MDT680 and MDT665 platforms. The direct-wire configuration connects the cradle to the vehicle electrical system without a cigarette-lighter plug, reducing connector wear and maintaining a stable power feed through ignition cycles. The RS232 channel supports serial peripherals such as printers, scanners, and diagnostic devices. The cradle is mechanically keyed to the handheld terminal and provides a secure mount for in-vehicle use.
CRD665-REG Cradle with Hardwired Power Cable
Provides a single RS232 serial channel and stable 9-36V DC vehicle power through a direct-wire cable. Suitable for permanent installations in trucks, vans, service vehicles, and equipment panels where the cradle is powered from the vehicle electrical system rather than a removable adapter. The wide input range covers 12V and 24V vehicle systems without additional converters.

Interface Summary
Two Locking Modes for Different Workflows
The CRD665-REG cradle features a configurable locking mechanism to suit either rapid handheld use or permanent vehicle mounting.

Installation guide: Option 1 (Easy-Detach-To-Go) vs Option 2 (Strong-Mounted)
Easy-Detach-To-Go
Designed for high-frequency undocking. The cradle relies on a strong magnetic mount to securely hold the device during transit. Ideal for last-mile delivery, field service, and shift handovers where workers need the device in hand quickly.
Simply pull the device outward. No mechanical latches need to be pressed to release it.
Strong-Mounted
Designed for permanent vehicle and industrial deployments. The cradle uses a secure mechanical lock (activated by flipping the locking clip) to create a rigid, anti-vibration connection. The device cannot be accidentally knocked out on rough roads.
Requires a deliberate action: long-press the release buttons on both sides of the base simultaneously to unlock and lift the device off.
Where Hardwired Power Makes a Difference
A removable power adapter introduces a plug-in connection that can loosen under vibration, overheat in high-current charging, or be accidentally disconnected during vehicle operation. Direct-wire power connects the cradle permanently to the vehicle electrical system, eliminating the adapter as a failure point. The 9-36V input range accommodates both 12V and 24V vehicle systems, and ignition sensing allows the cradle to power on and off with the vehicle. The RS232 channel provides a reliable serial link for peripherals that must remain connected across the full shift.
Deployment Scenarios
Permanent dashboard mount with stable power for dispatch, navigation, and proof-of-delivery applications.
Hardwired power avoids adapter loss and maintains charge during long shifts with RS232 diagnostic tools connected.
Fixed cradle for MDT680 or MDT665 used as a control interface in vehicles and industrial workstations.
When to Choose CRD665-REG
Select CRD665-REG when your MDT680 or MDT665 deployment requires a permanent vehicle cradle with hardwired 9-36V DC power and a single RS232 serial channel. It is the appropriate choice when the cradle is powered directly from the vehicle electrical system, when adapter-based charging is unreliable, and when a serial peripheral must remain connected during operation. For deployments that require a sealed connector for washdown or moisture exposure, the BKT1065-IP series offers an IP-rated connector for the MDT1065 platform. For quick-release daily undock scenarios, the CRD665 standard cradle variants provide one-hand release without tools. Compatible Handheld Platforms
This cradle is designed for two handheld terminal models
The CRD665-REG cradle supports the MDT680 mechanical and electrical interface, providing 9-36V DC power and one RS232 channel through the direct-wire cable.
The same CRD665-REG cradle supports the MDT665 with identical power and serial connectivity, enabling a shared cradle platform across both handheld models.
